Famed pop star and composer of The Lion King and Billy Elliot, Sir Elton John has re-written one of opera’s greatest—AIDA!

The triumphant love story between an Egyptian prince and a slave transcends warring nations and brings a country together.

Winner of four 2000 Tony Awards, Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida is an epic tale of love, loyalty and betrayal, chronicling the love triangle between Aida, a Nubian princess stolen from her country, Amneris, an Egyptian princess, and Radames, the soldier they both love.

An unforgettable score with such soaring ballads as “Written in the Stars,” “Elaborate Lives” and “Halfway to Heaven,” Aida has become a modern classic, as timeless as it is sensational. The production is being directed and choreographed by Broadway’s Luis Salgado, whose past productions at the Axelrod have included Ragtime and In the Heights.

The Axelrod’s production boasts a dream team joining director-choreographer Luis Salgado, including set designer Kate Rance, lighting designer Herrick Goldman, sound designer Kevin Johnson, costume designer Robert Croghan and properties designer Susan Bloir.

The Salgado Productions team includes Musical Director Ricky Romano, Associate Director Valeria Cossu,

Assistant Choreographer Myriam Gadri and Production Supervisor Heather Hogan.

The show is being produced by Artistic Director Andrew DePrisco and CEO Jess Levy.
